Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory
There is something special about conducting experiments in a controlled environment to explore processes relevant to ocean dynamics. The Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (GFD) Laboratory at the UW School of Oceanography provides a unique opportunity for students and researchers to explore classical fluid mechanics problems and design experiments to address the most challenging contemporary problems in oceanography. The GFD lab is truly a gem designed by Professor Peter Rhines, who made sure that it naturally fits into the architecture of the Ocean Sciences Building. It is now run by Prof. Manucharyan. Stop by if you have a chance to see the beautiful experiments.
