Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory

There is something special about conducting experiments in a controlled environment to explore processes relevant to ocean dynamics. The Geophysical Fluid Dynamics (GFD) Laboratory at the UW School of Oceanography provides a unique opportunity for students and researchers to explore classical fluid mechanics problems and design experiments to address the most challenging contemporary problems in oceanography. The GFD lab is truly a gem designed by Professor Peter Rhines, who made sure that it naturally fits into the architecture of the Ocean Sciences Building. Stop by if you have a chance to see the beautiful experiments.
